7 OPTIONS FOR POSTS

_____________________________________________________________________

1. MEME– A funny photo was taken online (credit the source in the caption).

➔ What is a meme? According to Google, “An element of a culture or system of behaviour that may be considered to be passed from one individual to another by nongenetic means, especially imitation. Ex: A humorous image, video, piece of text, etc., that is copied (often with slight variations) and spread rapidly by internet users.”

➔ Why create a meme? By sharing your experience with an event, place, job or thing, you’re able to relate with viewers on a personal level.

How to create a meme? You’re able to create a meme with collage apps available on IOS and Androids. Choose 1-2 images and place them side by side. Add a text box above the photos.

➔ Repurposing other people’s work: You can share memes of different accounts but must credit them appropriately. The best way to credit them is by putting “Credit:@username.” If you’re not able to find the source, put “Credit: Unknown.”

2. QUOTE- Relatable/mutual feelings are shared between client and service provider.

Why share quotes? According to Google, “Quote posts are compelling and persuasive because people are drawn to brief but meaningful, relevant, and engaging content. Plus, there's so much you can do with them! Social media is more than posting links to articles. People desire connections and relationships.

Repurposing other people’s work: You can share quotes from different people as long as you credit them properly. The best way to credit them is putting their name after the quote finishes “- Martin White.” If you’re not able to find the source, put “- Unknown.”

3. BEFORE & AFTER’S- Realistic photos (the bad - then the good) of your amazing transformations.

What are before and afters? An image of your client before they’re treated and one after the service is complete. It’s exactly what it sounds like.

Why create before and afters? Show your potential clients where others came from and where they are now - help PROVE to them that “this can work for you, too.”. Not only are you showing viewers your skills, but also telling a story.

How to create before and afters? Remember to always take images of your clients before you start and immediately after. Aim to recreate the same angle, lighting and posing.

      4. UGC– Stands for User Generated Content – Some of your clients can take amazing photos/videos that can be reposted on your account.

What is UGC? According to Google, “User-Generated Content (UGC) highlights how other customers are having experience with your brand, and it generates a feeling of empathy or maybe even envy.”

Why use UGC? User-generated content gives companies a chance to build an emotional connection with their audience, gain viewers' trust, show authenticity, and form meaningful relationships with current or potential clients.

How to get UGC? When posting a before and after of the client, tag them and once they respond, send a DM to remind them of any UGC they have that you can use! When customers are getting ready to leave, mention that you’d love to share any of their selfies they may take after their service is done.

5. PROMOTION –  These are optional but should be no more than once a month. They can be effective for both existing and new customers.

What is promotion? A promotion can range from any amount of dollars, percentages, or free incentives that are given out to new/old/potential clients.

Why use promotion? On IG/FB you have the ability to share your new promotions and deals on your services to reach a bigger audience. Reach a bigger audience = new bookings = more bums in seats and money in the till.

6. TRENDS– Use TikTok to research recent trends that you (even with your client) can recreate in your salon/suite.

What are trends? According to Google, “trends are what's hip or popular at a certain point in time. While a trend usually refers to a certain style in fashion or entertainment.”

Why use trends? By using popular trends, your video has a higher chance of reach to a high audience and can tap into a community of people who are also interested in the trend.

How to use trends? If you use IG regularly, you’ll notice the most recent trends are finding their way on your feed or ‘For You’ page. If you don’t use IG regularly, then Google is your friend. Simply search up “Recent trends on IG or TikTok” and multiple different results will appear. If you know the name of the trend you’re looking for, you can search up the word on IG in the search bar - under hashtags. That will show all the posts that include the hashtag/keyword/name of the trend.

7. HOLIDAYS- These posts can be throwbacks of clients, UGC, a graphic celebrating the holiday

What are holidays? According to Google, “A holiday is a day set aside by custom or by law on which normal activities, especially business or work including school, are suspended or reduced.”

Why post on holidays? It’s important to post on holidays to show your followers that you too are human! Many people celebrate holidays and some may have more of an emotional impact on others. By posting on holidays, you can appeal to sensibilities of your audience (customers).

How to create holiday posts? Share any images you may have taken around a holiday (Valentine’s Day, Halloween, Christmas etc.). You can also create a graphic with a quirky holiday saying (Ex: Santa saw your hair and he wasn’t very merry about it).
